Analyst Tatevik Hayrapetyan warns that the deployment of Azerbaijani special forces in Armenia may soon become a real scenario. She believes this risk will grow if Nikol Pashinyan remains in power.
A Dangerous Trend Is Taking Shape
Hayrapetyan states that recent political signals show a clear and troubling direction.
According to her, Pashinyan is creating conditions that will allow Azerbaijani special units to enter Armenia “peacefully” and settle inside the country.
She argues that people who still hope “he will not cross certain lines” are ignoring reality.
In her words, such people may eventually find themselves packing their belongings and looking for a safer country.
Political Action Is the Only Tool Left
Hayrapetyan stresses that Armenia still has one peaceful method to prevent this outcome.
Citizens can remove Pashinyan from power through elections and a clear public stance.
She emphasizes that only Armenian citizens can stop these developments.
According to her, this responsibility cannot be outsourced to any external actor.
Aliyev’s Statements Reveal a Larger Plan
Hayrapetyan cites direct quotes from Ilham Aliyev’s recent speech.
These statements are now heavily promoted in Azerbaijani media and are shaping a new ideological line.
Aliyev claims that Azerbaijanis have a “lawful right” to return to Armenia.
This message is presented as an official agenda, not a rhetorical gesture.
He said:
- “After Armenians settled on the lands of our ancestors — in 1905–1907, 1918–1921, 1948–1953 and 1987–1991 — hundreds of thousands of our people were forced to flee and seek refuge in Azerbaijan.”
- “Restoring and protecting Azerbaijani cultural heritage in Armenia is a lawful demand. It is needed for reconciliation and respect for universal values.”
- “We believe that peaceful members of the Western Azerbaijan community will return to the lands of their ancestors, and good-neighborly relations will be established.”
A Message From a Leader Who Waged War
Hayrapetyan reminds that these words come from a leader responsible for war, blockade, ethnic cleansing and the forced displacement of Armenians from Artsakh.
She notes that Aliyev speaks about “peace” in a context where Armenians are absent by design.
She concludes that silence from the Armenian government only strengthens this agenda.
