The military actions carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran cannot be considered a classic war. This was stated by military expert Hayk Nahapetyan.
The expert notes that not all military operations can be classified as war. According to him, it is important to understand what objectives these actions pursue and what results their initiators are trying to achieve.
According to Nahapetyan, the main goal of the current operations is to carry out a change of power in Iran. He reminds that such attempts have already been made: the United States and Israel tried to implement a similar scenario last year — in June through military actions, as well as in December of last year and January of this year, by provoking internal unrest.
“In my assessment, the same objective is being pursued now as twice last year — in June, and also in December of last year and January of this year. We are talking about a change of power. This is not a war. That is, the military operation is used as a tool to implement a power change,” the expert notes.
According to him, a third attempt is currently being carried out, but this time a combined version of the first two scenarios is being used: alongside missile strikes and bombings, instability hotspots are being created. In addition, the expert notes that efforts are being made to generate separatist sentiments and activate the “fifth” and “sixth” lines.
Nahapetyan also described the theoretical scenario that could emerge as a result of such actions. According to him, it is possible that representatives of various religious communities or national minorities in Iran, a country with a population of about 90 million, could take to the streets in the millions.
“For example, theoretically the scenario could be as follows: representatives of various religious communities or national minorities in Iran, with a population of about 90 million, take to the streets in the millions, the police and army side with the people, and the authorities resign,” says the expert, noting that, most likely, the United States and Israel aimed precisely for such a scenario.
At the same time, Nahapetyan emphasizes that in this case we are not talking about a classic military invasion. According to him, the United States and Israel did not aim to deploy troops on Iranian territory, reach Tehran, seize government buildings, and raise their flags on them.
Therefore, according to the expert, the ongoing processes should be assessed not as a war, but as an attempt at a change of power carried out using military tools.
