The “Zangezur transport hub” should be overseen solely by Armenia, said First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
To Ilur.am’s question about how he sees the resolution of the “Zangezur corridor” issue, Ter-Petrosyan responded as follows:
“I would like to note right away that I would avoid using the term ‘Zangezur corridor,’ as it raises certain concerns among the active layers of our [i.e. Armenian] society. Therefore, I believe that it is more correct to use the term ‘Zangezur transport hub’ instead.
Naturally, overseeing of the ‘Zangezur transport hub,’ by virtue of sovereign right, should be exercised solely by Armenia. As for the political and economic objectives of other interested countries, Armenia, in my conviction, is able, in accordance with the requirements of international law, to guarantee their uninterrupted activity.
