TRIPP Project Frees Baku’s Hands and Deprives Armenia of Guarantees

At this stage, all the cards are being revealed, along with the geopolitical strategies developed over the past 30 years. This was stated by Dzyunik Aghajanyan, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

According to her, this is particularly evident in our region. “After the failed attempt at a color revolution in Armenia in 2008, it was successfully implemented in 2018. Immediately afterward, a process was initiated to shift Armenia into the Western sphere of influence. The price of this shift was both Artsakh and the corridor through Syunik,” Aghajanyan emphasized.

She noted that the so-called TRIPP, proposed in the United States, is essentially the same “corridor” concept that was developed under the Biden administration, but with one critical difference: previously, any party violating the agreements would face U.S. sanctions. “Now, this condition is absent, and this is also a result of concessions by the Armenian side. As a result, Baku has been given a free hand: having secured the corridor, it will not unblock communications, without fear of any sanctions from Washington,” the diplomat stated.

Aghajanyan expressed confidence that the implementation of the TRIPP project will not result in Armenia gaining a road connecting it to Iran. “The border with Turkey will also not be unblocked, as Ankara will not do so until Armenia and the West meet all of Turkey’s conditions,” she noted.

According to the former ambassador, the signed declaration essentially contains no obligations on the part of the United States. “This has become a hallmark of the current authorities: various statements and declarations are signed that, in form, do not require ratification or constitutional compliance checks, but in substance, they function as international agreements and clearly violate the Constitution. In other words, the authorities, bypassing existing legislation, undertake obligations to external forces and effectively fulfill them,” Aghajanyan concluded.
