Baku’s territorial claims against Armenia will continue

Baku will never sign a peace treaty with Armenia. Azerbaijan’s claims against Armenia will be continuous and unending. This opinion was expressed by international affairs expert Armen Manvelyan.

“All those people with Armenian surnames who come and claim that Azerbaijan is bringing us peace — know this: they are traitors, pursuing personal or financial interests,” Manvelyan said.

According to him, this false “peace bubble” will inevitably burst. The current actions — particularly the propaganda around a “peace agenda” — serve one purpose: to win reelection by deceiving people into believing that the authorities are delivering peace.

Manvelyan urged people not to forget that the same team now preaching peace brought war, destruction, and displacement.
“More than a hundred Armenian churches have been handed over to the Turks, dozens of towns and villages have been ceded to them. Our churches in Artsakh are being destroyed. Yet these same people speak of morality and pretend to care about the Armenian Apostolic Church, while one of its most important dioceses — the Artsakh Diocese, which has existed for nearly 1,700 years — is now under Turkish control,” the expert noted.

He added that Aliyev’s recent remarks about Lake Sevan confirm that Azerbaijan’s territorial ambitions will not stop:
“This is a direct claim against Armenia’s territory. They have no intention of giving up these ambitions, not even for a moment, nor will they recognize the so-called borders of Soviet Armenia that today’s authorities occasionally mention. Their aspirations extend not only to Sevan but also, and especially, to Syunik, particularly toward the so-called ‘Trump Route’ or Zangezur Corridor. These ambitions will be ongoing and relentless, and that must be clearly understood.”

Manvelyan is convinced that Baku will never sign a peace treaty:
“Their goal is not peace. Their goal is to weaken and destroy Armenia as much as possible. That is why everyone who speaks of peace on behalf of the Azerbaijanis is paving the way for another genocide,” he said.

He recalled that the Armenian Genocide of 1915 unfolded under a similar scenario:
“When the Young Turks came to power in 1908, thousands of self-proclaimed Armenian intellectuals went to Armenian villages — in Sasun and elsewhere — telling people, ‘It’s over, peace has come. These are new Turks, educated in Europe, graduates of the Sorbonne.’ They persuaded the fedayis to come down from the mountains and surrender their weapons. Sadly, many believed them. We all know how that ended,” Manvelyan said.

According to him, the same scenario is unfolding today — almost word for word.
