According to official data, in 2025 Armenia experienced moderate inflation affecting broad layers of the population. Price increases in food, transport, and education remain among the most sensitive socio-economic issues, and the inflation structure indicates that the main pressure continues to fall on everyday consumption.
From January to December 2025, consumer prices in Armenia rose by 3.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. This was reported by the Statistical Committee of Armenia, publishing annual summary data on the consumer price index.
In December 2025 alone, compared to the previous month, the overall consumer price level increased by 1.2%, while the average monthly inflation for the year was 0.3%, significantly higher than the corresponding figure for 2024.
Food prices continue to rise
From the beginning to the end of the year, the highest price growth was recorded in the food and non-alcoholic beverage markets. In 2025, prices in this category rose by 4.3%, and in December alone, compared to December of the previous year, by 2.9%.
Meat, fish and seafood, dairy products, eggs, and oils became especially more expensive. Prices for beef, pork, and lamb increased by 11–14%, while egg prices rose more than 7% over the year. In the fish market, the “Ishkhan” species stands out, with its price increasing by more than 18% annually.
At the same time, the vegetable market shows a mixed picture: prices fell by 7.5% year-on-year, but in December compared to the previous month, vegetable prices rose by 12.5%, due to seasonal factors.
Alcohol, tobacco, and non-food goods
Price growth was also observed in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. In 2025, prices in these categories increased by 5.5% and 8.7%, respectively.
In the non-food goods sector, overall price growth was relatively modest — 0.9% annually. Changes in clothing and footwear prices were mostly minor, while some products even saw price decreases. At the same time, jewelry prices rose significantly, increasing by more than 39% over the year.
Services sector among leaders in price growth
In 2025, service prices increased by 3.1%. The most noticeable price hikes were in transport services, education, and healthcare.
Transport service prices rose more than 24% over the year, while higher education and preschool education prices increased by over 8%. Medical service fees grew by about 2%, while dental service fees rose by more than 5%.
Fuel and exchange rate
The fuel market remained relatively stable in 2025. During the year, gasoline and diesel prices fell by 2.2% and 4.1%, respectively. Meanwhile, prices for liquid hydrocarbons (butane, propane) sharply increased at the end of the year, reaching an average of 193.6 AMD.
The 3.3% rise in consumer prices by year-end was accompanied by a depreciation of the dram. The average exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the US dollar in December 2025 was 381.5 AMD, compared to 396.5 AMD the previous year.
