Armenia’s political landscape is undergoing active restructuring, particularly within the opposition. This was stated by political strategist Vigen Hakobyan.
According to him, several major opposition blocs are currently forming, which may play a key role in the upcoming elections.
Formation of opposition blocs
He notes that at least four relatively large formats can already be identified.
These include the “Armenia” alliance, Samvel Karapetyan’s “Strong Armenia” party, a political format initiated by Gagik Tsarukyan, and the “Wings of Unity” coalition, which объединяет (brings together) various forces under a coalition structure.
“In fact, we have four main opposition blocs that are likely to participate in the elections,” Hakobyan said.
Election strategy
According to the political strategist, although these forces are formed as coalitions, they will most likely participate in elections through a single party list.
“This is aimed at overcoming the electoral threshold and minimizing risks. This approach has been used before,” he explained.
At the same time, the format of participation for the Republican Party remains unclear. More clarity is expected after its upcoming congress.
The challenge of perceived unity
Hakobyan emphasizes that not only organizational structure matters, but also public perception.
In his view, opposition forces must be seen by voters as moving in the same strategic direction, even if they act separately.
“Voters need to understand that different forces are pursuing the same goal,” he said.
This goal should be clearly articulated — through joint statements, a manifesto, or coordinated messaging.
Change of power as the main agenda
According to Hakobyan, the opposition’s main objective should be the replacement of the current government.
He stresses that only in this case will voters feel confident that their vote contributes to a unified outcome.
Opposition prospects
Speaking about prospects, Hakobyan notes that the opposition currently has relatively strong chances.
“I believe the opposition has a good opportunity this time to achieve its main objective,” he concluded.
At the same time, he emphasized that the final outcome will depend not only on organization, but also on the ability to form a unified strategy.
